Who is Terra L. Fletcher?

Terra L. Fletcher, owner of fletcherfreelance.com, specializes in writing for the internet and offers strategic marketing consultations.  Fletcher writes SEO website content, blogs, newsletters, press releases, ad copy, and marketing plans.

Some people are born with a mechanical inclination. Some are born athletes. Fletcher was born to write. By age one-and-a-half Fletcher was reciting her ABCs. As a child Fletcher would mentally scramble the words on billboards and try to pronounce the ingredients listed on packaging.

By eleven years of age Fletcher was constantly writing poetry and prose. Fletcher hasn’t stopped writing since. She’s won awards and contests. She’s written for herself and for friends. Through all life’s changes, one thing has stayed the same. Fletcher has never stopped writing.

Fletcher and her six siblings were raised by hard-working entrepreneurs. Fletcher doesn’t remember a time when she wasn’t working.  Fletcher understood what was involved in running a business by the time she started her first business at the age of fourteen.  She began a small swag operation, imprinting the logos of her parents’ businesses on mugs, pens, and magnets.  The small business was abandoned for other, typical teenage interests.

After high school Fletcher dabbled in several areas of education and tried her hand at several part-time jobs.  She excelled at all of them, but was eventually enticed by her parents to devote more of her time to the family business.  Fletcher worked second only to her parents, doing everything from answering phones, exhibiting in home improvement shows, designing marketing materials, scheduling appointments, and creating customer retention programs.

Soon after the family business was sold Fletcher went to work for Owens Door Company (later Owens, Inc.), a manufacturer of interior doors.  Fletcher started tracking daily production and generating metrics by work center; graphing efficiency, productivity, and utilization.  She orchestrated cycle counts and physical inventory activities and was responsible for Kanban.  Her knowledge of inventory grew and she took classes in production and inventory management.  This translated well when she transferred to the accounting department.  There Fletcher calculated and maintained standard costs of all parts and prepared daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports (profit margins, COGS, sales, etc.).Fletcher was the resident Excel expert and proofreader.

Many entrepreneurs and small business owners will tell you that they “have to” do what they do.  It’s not a choice. Fletcher denied the entrepreneurship heritage that ran through her veins for years, but she was never truly satisfied professionally.  She would take on any challenge given her and yearn for more.

In September 2007 Fletcher decided it was time to stop denying what was in her blood and put her gift to work for others. Fletcher wrote a few articles and submitted them to publishers.  As soon as she started marketing her work, she started selling it. Fletcher always hoped to “quit her day job” to write from home.  She was working towards that goal and planning to turn in her two-week’s notice in March 2010.  In December 2009 Fletcher was given the jumpstart she needed when she was laid-off from her “day job”.  Fletcher has never looked back.

Terra L. Fletcher has since published hundreds of articles, written for dozens of websites, and designed marketing materials for a variety of industries. Her word savvy and marketing knowledge is clearly evident and Fletcher has finally filled that professional void.

That doesn’t mean she’s finished.  Fletcher has always loved to learn. She strives to understand how the human mind works and the science behind it.  Fletcher watches television for the commercials. Her favorite part of a movie is the previews.  She devours books on marketing, advertising, and psychology.  Fletcher enjoys working with businesses in every industry including hospitality, manufacturing, consulting, building, entertainment, automotive, and health.

Fletcher says she’s never worked harder, but she's also never been happier.  She works from her home in Shawano, Wisconsin.  Fletcher loves to cook, read, bike, swim, camp, hike, do volunteer work, and spend time with her son and husband.

Fletcher will never stop writing; in fact she could easily be defined by her writing. Like an artist’s need to paint, like a musician’s need to play, this writer needs to write. This experienced, published writer has spent years developing her talent and skills. Terra L. Fletcher is ready to write for you.
